José Pedro Algorta
José Pedro Algorta Durán, known as Pedro Algorta, is a Uruguayan economist and survivor of the 1972 Andes flight disaster. He was one of the 16 survivors of Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571 and was a 21-year-old economics student at the time of the crash. After the disaster, he continued his studies in Buenos Aires and later earned an MBA from Stanford University. He wrote Las montañas siguen allí, his account of the Andes tragedy.
